GIS Mapping
GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is a digital mapping tool that planners and local government staff can use to access, organize and create data about places.
GIS is extremely flexible and customizable to meet the needs of almost any local government. While ECICOG has a variety of datasets on hand, we are able to create data as needed, either through the digitization of existing documents or through on-site inventorying. Below are some example maps that we have created.
ECICOG GIS provides a variety of services including: risk assessments and loss estimations for natural hazards, zoning maps, land use maps, environmental analysis and mapping, transportation and trails mapping, census maps, and training.
ECICOG GIS also provides 3D visualization tools using SketchUp for a variety of uses including: downtown revitalization, historic preservation, urban renewal, building height review, review of development proposals and design, and landscaping review.
For more information on ECICOG's GIS services, please contact our Transit Administrator/Planner, Brock Grenis at 319-365-9941 ext. 137 or brock.grenis@ecicog.org.
