East Central Iowa Transit
East Central Iowa Transit was established in 1975 to provide demand-responsive, rural transit service in the counties of Benton, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington. In addition, East Central Iowa Transit provides service under contract for elderly and disabled residents of Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Coralville, and University Heights.
The East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG) is responsible for the administration, coordination, and planning functions of the regional system. A portion of the funding and technical assistance is provided by the Office of Public Transit and Federal Transit Administration. East Central Iowa Transit is governed by the ECICOG Board of Directors.
ECICOG does not directly operate the transit service, but alternatively contracts with a provider in each affiliated county. Providers include:
Benton County Transportation;
Iowa County Transportation;
Johnson County SEATS;
Jones County JETS;
Linn County LIFTS; and
Washington County Mini Bus.
