Community Development

Picture
ECICOG offers local governments a variety of technical assistance on land use planning, zoning and subdivision regulation, economic development and local government financing. Consider ECICOG an extension of your city staff. Many smaller communities often lack the resources to have in-house technical experts. ECICOG staff can be called upon to consult on a wide variety of issues and you can trust that ECICOG will always have your community’s best interest in mind.

Land Use, Codes & Zoning

ECICOG can help your community write a comprehensive plan and prepare future land use maps, prepare zoning and subdivision ordinances, update city codes, conduct development reviews and create urban revitalization plans. Take a look at some of our comprehensive plans here.

Grant Writing & Administration

Our staff collects current information on federal and state assistance programs that are available to communities. ECICOG writes and administers CDBG, USDA and EDA grants, as well as grants available through the State of the Iowa. ECICOG can help relieve cities of the burden of managing complex grant reporting requirements.

Technical Assistance

ECICOG offers technical assistance on local government finances, economic development, historic preservation, recreation planning, and downtown revitalization, as well as other topics. ECICOG also serves as liaison to state and federal agencies and can help local governments understand and comply with new regulations and mandates.
