Area Communities Receive CDBG Water and Sewer Funding

The cities of Coralville, Olin, and Onslow were recently awarded Community Development

Block Grant (CDBG) Water/Sewer/Stormwater funds.

The City of Coralville has been awarded $356,974 to replace undersized water mains and aging, deteriorated sanitary sewer lines along 4th Avenue Place. The project will support the installation of additional fire hydrants and will replace deteriorating sewer infrastructure to prevent leaks and groundwater infiltration.

The City of Olin was awarded $500,000 to replace the lagoon liner in Cell No. 2 of its three-cell wastewater lagoon. The project includes lagoon subgrade repairs, installation of a new geomembrane liner, and construction of a gas ventilation system to help protect the integrity of the new liner.

The City of Onslow also received $500,000 to upgrade its drinking water system. Improvements will include drilling a new source well, adding a booster pump to improve water pressure, replacing aging and undersized water mains, and eliminating dead end water lines. The larger water mains will support the installation of additional fire hydrants, improving fire protection in the area.
