The Iowa Economic Development Administration (IEDA) recently awarded CDBG-Disaster Recovery funding that will create 129 new housing units in Marion, Center Point, Atkins, Walker, Belle Plaine and Linn County. The grant applications, which were submitted in January, requested a total of $22 million, the most that ECICOG has ever sought in a single CDBG round. The funds awarded by IEDA exceed $15 million and will support construction of both new owner-occupied housing and rental housing. Only projects in Linn and Benton Counties were eligible to apply for this funding, which was made available as a result of 2020 derecho.
