Consider Applying to the Community Mural Contest

Is your community looking to highlight its hometown spirit and people that make it a great place to live? Do you want to showcase your unique community events and spaces that welcome visitors?  

Through the Iowans Create Community Mural Contest, the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) invites cities, municipalities and economic development organizations to submit short videos showcasing their community spirit and authentic sense of place. If voters like what they see, your community will have a chance to win a custom mural designed and installed by an Iowa-based artist.  

The IEDA is sponsoring this contest to recognize the importance of unity, community spirit and the unique creative and cultural identity of Iowa’s communities. The program is managed by the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the IEDA.  

To enter the contest, communities must create a short video and submit it through the official entry form here. Video submissions must be included in entry form by October 4, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. For more information visit the COMMunity Mural contest Website.
