In December, the East Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund (ECIHTF), which serves Benton, Iowa, Jones, and Washington counties, was awarded $440,168 in state funding through the Iowa Finance Authority. Awarded each year, these funds supported critical housing initiatives in 2025, including:

• Down Payment Assistance for Kalona Student Build Project

• Roof Replacement for a 24-unit senior housing complex in Monticello

• Down Payment Assistance for 5 households through the HOME program

• Emergency Critical Repair Assistance for low and extremely-low-income households

Since 2011, ECIHTF has invested more than $5 million in housing initiatives across the four-county region, assisting nearly 700 households through development projects, preservation efforts, and support services. These programs primarily serve households earning below 80% of area median income, which is approximately $81,000 for a family of four.
