REAP – City Parks and Open Spaces Grant: Michelle Wilson from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Michelle will provide an overview of REAP grant funding for city parks and open spaces on Tuesday, May 27th at 1pm. The discussion will cover eligibility, application procedures and grant scoring, as well as the positive impacts these grants can have on community parks and recreational areas. Applications for the REAP - City Parks & Open Space grant are due August 15. You can learn more about REAP funding opportunities at the REAP website. Click here to register for the May 27 Turbo Talk.
Derelict Building Grant Program: Reid Bermel with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will provide an overview of the Derelict Building Grant program and examples of successful projects on Wednesday, June 11 at 1pm. Cities with a population less than 5,000 are eligible to apply for funds to assess, abate, repair, or deconstruct unoccupied commercial buildings that are dilapidated or have become a nuisance in the community. Grant applications are due annually in late February, so it is a great time for cities to start developing an application. Click here to register for the June 11th Turbo Talk.
