Existing Federal Grants are Still on Track (For Now)

ECICOG’s work has resumed a more normal cadence after the Trump administration issued an Executive Order in late January that temporarily paused federal grants. For the most part, approvals and grant reimbursements are being received on a timely basis. This includes funding from HUD (CDBG), Commerce, Transportation and the EPA.

Federal grants play a critical role in helping address some of our biggest infrastructure challenges, in addition to assisting our most vulnerable populations. During the last year federal grants have supported rural road projects, local dial-a-ride transit service, housing rehabilitation and development, business gap financing and a host of other projects. While reimbursements for previously awarded grants have resumed, staff remain deeply concerned about the future availability of grants and the impact on federal workforce reductions on grant awards and administration.
