A group of regional leaders convened on November 20th and 21st to learn the Strategic Doing method of group facilitation. Strategic Doing is an open-source discipline for designing and guiding complex collaborations by following simple rules. It enables people in loosely connected networks to form action-oriented collaborations quickly, moving towards measurable outcomes with 30-day action plans. Strategic Doing is designed to promote cross-organization collaboration. The training was conduct by Kate Moreland and Jennifer Horn Frazier of Bluebird Sky Solutions. All of the participants are involved in organizing action teams for Envision East Central Iowa, our region’s comprehensive economic development strategy.
The training was funded by an EDA Technical Assistance grant written by ECICOG, with grant match contributions from the Cedar Rapids are Community Foundation, Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, Kirkwood Community College, Alliant Energy and Greater IC, Inc. A second cohort will be trained in the spring of 2026.
Envision East Central Iowa action teams are always looking for new members! Visit envision-eastcentraliowa.org or contact Community Development Specialist Jessica Walker to learn more about their work and how to get involved.
