In December, the Iowa Finance Authority awarded a record $11 million to the state’s 26 Local Housing Trust Funds, two of which are administered by ECICOG. The East Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund (ECIHTF) and Housing Fund for Linn County (HFfLC) both had the opportunity to apply for the highest amount ever made available to them, $401,325 for ECIHTF and $575,867 for HFfLC. These awards, combined with local contributions and grants, will be used to fund housing initiatives and programs in their respective areas.

The increased funding follows an advocacy campaign that prompted the legislature to increase the amount of real-estate transfer tax dedicated to the state’s housing trust funds.
