ECICOG has begun work on a comprehensive plan update for Swisher and will start similar work in Oxford and Anamosa over the next few months. A comprehensive plan is an expression of a community’s vision for the future and a strategic map to reach that vision. These long-term plans involve months of community engagement through surveys, stakeholder interviews, focus groups and town hall meetings. Engagement is done both in person and online. Comprehensive plans are the basis for land-use regulations and can help communities justify grant funding requests. Most importantly, the planning process builds community excitement and energy to work together toward a common future. Contact Community Development Specialist Tom Gruis at tom.gruis@ecicog.org to learn how ECICOG can help your community plan for its future.
