Three cities in the ECICOG region were awarded grant funding through the Iowa Derelict Building Program.
Robins has been awarded $10,000 to complete asbestos abatement in a former church building that is owned by the city. Lone Tree was awarded $17,500 to repair and preserve its Frontier Pavilion located in North Park. Urbana has been awarded $30,500 to stabilize a deteriorated downtown building that was originally constructed in 1917 and operated as a grocery store.
Cities with a population of less than 5,000 are eligible to apply for funds to assess, abate, repair, or deconstruct unoccupied commercial public buildings that are dilapidated or have become a nuisance in the community.
