Washington County Minibus facility hosted a ribbon-cutting and open house in October to celebrate an extensive renovation, which was funded by a $472,000 Public Transit Infrastructure Grant (PTIG). The non-profit’s board of directors began working with ECICOG in 2019 to find funding for improving the building, which was originally built in 1975 and needed a complete overhaul and expansion. Greiner Buildings was selected as the contractor for the project, and work included over 200 square feet of new office space, a new drivers room, an addition for indoor bus parking, and new siding on the building. The renovation also brought the building up to current standards for employees and the public.

This project demonstrates the value of partnerships between local agencies and ECICOG to secure grant funds for improving local facilities. Similar projects for public transit facilities have recently been completed with the assistance of ECICOG in Monticello and Vinton. For more information about how ECICOG can help qualifying entities to secure and administer transit grants, contact Brock Grenis at brock.grenis@ecicog.org.
