Housing Fund for Linn County

The Housing Fund for Linn County (HFfLC) is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to improving quality of life by offering innovative and flexible funding in order to expand affordable housing opportunities within Linn County.

Administrative services for the HFfLC are contracted through the East Central Iowa Council of Governments located at 700 16th St NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.

The HFfLC was certified as a Local Housing Trust by the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) on November 7, 2007, and received a determination of tax-exempt 501(c) (3) status from the Internal Revenue Service on April 10, 2008.

The Board of Directors of the HFfLC is comprised of thirteen (13) members who provide a diversity of representation, with gender balance and geographical distribution, to embrace a broad range of affordable housing interests.

As described in its Housing Assistance Plan (HAP) the HFfLC may provide the provision of affordable housing in a variety of ways. This may include providing temporary or permanent assistance for: owner or rental property demolition / clearance; housing development, reconstruction or rehabilitation; homeownership assistance (such as down payment / closing costs for first-time home buyers, mortgage payments for principal, interest, taxes and / or insurance, etc.); rental assistance (such as for rent, security deposits, utilities, etc.); transitional housing; homelessness.

Funding provided by the HFfLC must generally assist low to moderate income persons who have a household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) and 30% must assist extremely low-income persons who have a household income at or below 30% of AMI.
