The cities of Coralville, Olin, and Onslow were recently awarded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Water/Sewer/Stormwater funds. The East Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund recently received funding to offer up to $35,000 in down payment and/or closing costs assistance for low-to-moderate income (LMI) first time homebuyers, with the ability to use some of that assistance for minor repairs. Since 2022, five communities in East Central Iowa - Hills, Springville, Walker, Center Point, and Shellsburg - have joined the Hometown Pride Program, a statewide initiative through Keep Iowa Beautiful. ECICOG has been working on evaluating vehicle and pedestrian crash data as part of a Safe Streets for All grant awarded to the region in 2025. As part of this effort, the study team is now collecting feedback from local communities and the public. A survey is available that will help evaluate crash data and road safety conditions, which will ultimately help guide future transportation planning and funding. Robins has been awarded $10,000 to complete asbestos abatement in a former church building that is owned by the city.
